FAQ

1. Can I take homeopathic remedies alongside prescription drugs?
Yes! Homoeopathic remedies will not interfere with prescribed conventional medicines as the homoeopathic drug action is totally different to conventional medicines and is not contra-indicated. Homeopathic remedies are a dynamic energy medicine that affects the body’s own healing stimulus.

2. How do I take homeopathic medication?
Homeopathic remedies come in different forms like tablets, drops or granules. The absorption of the active ingredient does not takes place in the stomach like with conventional medication, but via the mucous membrane in the mouth. That is why the mouth should be clean – you should avoid putting anything in the mouth at least 15 minutes before and after taking them. The most common causes of potential antidoting are strong odours such as Camphor, coffee, tea, cigarettes or aetheric oils. It is also advisable not to brush teeth directly before or after.
In an acute case one dose can be taken 2-hourly until the symptoms start subsiding, but no longer than 48 hours.

3. How does this differ from conventional medicine?
Conventional medicine - or allopathy - works in opposition to the body's healing energy. It removes symptoms by preventing them from being expressed rather than by treating their underlying cause.
Allopathic treatment is based on the name of the disease. Homoeopathic treatment is based on the way the disease is expressed in you, as an individual.
Allopathy uses large doses of medicine which affects the chemistry of the body. Conventional medicines may have to be taken over long periods of time because they cause chemical changes in the body which must be maintained. Homoeopathy uses tiny doses of medicine which affect the physics - or energy - of the body. When you take a homoeopathic medicine you will usually only take one dose because the aim is to stimulate your body’s own healing mechanism. The effect of this one dose may last many months.

4.What is classical homeopathy?
Classical homeopaths follow the teachings of Samuel Hahnemann and his followers like JT Kent and JH Clarke. They prescribe a single remedy which suits the whole person rather than using polypharmacy.
